Finnish food tour

As promised, some food tour highlights:

‘Tiger’ salmon (smoked salmon flamed to give it a charred character) with a salmon dill sauce
The wall of different flavoured and coated licorice at Stockman – Finns love their licorice!
John with the Karelian rice cake
Tinned bear – no we didn’t try any

The jam stall at the market by the harbour – particularly aggressive seagulls!
Havis Amanda statue near the market – focus of the May Day celebrations in Helsinki

  1. Apparently it celebrates the ‘birthday’ of Helsinki. It’s not a full on public holiday but there are lots of free events and things for folk to do after work.
