A few pics…

Two night shots from our deck, views of the Saturday afternoon regatta and early morning at the Seatoun Jetty – all themes I’m sure I’ll return to!

Being…

So here we are.

The stunning Wellington autumn continues.

It’s nice to have a home and we are nearly organised.  The new furniture came this week so the piles of books in the study have a home.  The outdoor table came, so, if it was warm enough, we could sit outside🌫

We had a seal in the bay, playing with a sizeable fish the way a cat plays with a mouse!🐭  And I have a black eye and bent nose from having walked into our sliding doors while taking night shots from the deck🌕😕.  But it’s all good!

Road trip next week to Rotorua for the NZ Quilters show.  There will be pictures!

Getting to sewing

Sometimes the blog is about quilting.

Working on a pattern called Red Zinger, saved from a magazine years ago.  It uses selvedges – the bits you normally cut off and throw away.  So my big bucket of selvedges is finally being used!

Early morning at Seatoun Jetty.

We’ve started to explore, and here are some views from around our new home.

Been here for a week

All the cartons are finally empty!  And nothing got broken – a minor miracle in itself.

This was a week of consolidating: I spend time in my sewing room, John spent some time in the study.  We got used to where we’ll do the shopping, ordered a bookcase and outdoor furniture, and we are test-driving some chairs for the dining table.  And we tried the local pilates studio out too.  And this afternoon we went for a walk and a drink at the local RSA where we were a talking point for the very small number of regular members.  It’s starting to feel like we live here!

Some photos to come!

In at last

While not everything went according to plan last week (the whitegoods were a day late and the mattress turned out to be the wrong one!), we are in the apartment and mostly unpacked.

While we thought that we’d done a reasonable job downsizing,  we’ve had to cull a bit more: mainly books as we just don’t have the space.  But pretty much everything else has a home.

So it’s been a long week of unpacking and arranging, but we did manage a walk on Thursday morning to explore a bit (sadly no early morning coffee stop in Scorching Bay!).  Our new neighbours have been friendly and helpful, and tolerant of all the noise that goes with the moving of lots of stuff.   The ‘black hole’ of bedroom 2!

 The container arrives!  Stuff!

So close you can taste it!

Big week this week!  We finally have a date for our move. We will be in by Wednesday 13 April🎉🍾

Arriving at a date has been complicated by key items not being able to be delivered on certain days – so it will be a three day process for a new mattress, whitegoods and the container to appear.  On the upside it’s a week ahead of when we thought it would be.

Hope you all had a great Easter break.  Below is John, with his Easter kiwi.

Not homeless anymore🏠

Big week this week: we settled on our apartment in Karaka Bay!  We exchanged a big cheque for a fancy key!🗝

So we’ve been in to try out some paint colours, and doing various other bits and pieces.  But, as my dad keeps saying, another step forward!🍾🎉

The tradies start next week.  First the electrician, then the painter, then new carpet.  We are maybe a month away from moving in.🔨💡
